Barbara Ishikura is a visual artist based in the Boston area, working primarily in painting, drawing, and papier-mâché sculpture. Her practice investigates the complexities of the human condition, with particular focus on the female body and its entanglement with shifting social norms. Through her work, Ishikura examines the porous boundaries between class, culture, and identity in contemporary society.

She holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, an ALM from Harvard University Extension School, and an MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
